 What Cefdinir is and what it is used for:

Cefdinir is a semi synthetic third generation cephalosporin antibiotic for oral administration. Cefdinir is indicated in the treatment of the following infections: Respiratory tract infections; community acquired neumonia, acute maxillary sinusitis, skin and skin structure infections 

What you need to know before you use Cefdinir:

Do not use Cefdinir:

If you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or to any other cephalosporin or penicillin drugs 

Warnings and precautions

• The dosage must be adjusted according to the grade of renal impairment

• Inform your doctor in case of diarrhea, since pseudomembranous colitis has been reported with this medicine 

• Bacterial or fungal overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms may occur with prolonged or repeated therapy

Other medicines and Cefdinir

• Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum interfere with absorption of cefdinir; if this required during therapy, administer at least 2 hr before or after antacid

• Iron supplements, including multivitamins that contain iron, interfere with absorption of cefdinir; if iron supplements required administer at least 2 hours before or after supplement

How to use Cefdinir:

• Cefdinir is for oral use

• Adults: 300 mg twice daily 

• Dose adjustment is required in case of renal impairment 

• Pediatric population, older than 6 months : The recommended daily dosage for children is 7 mg/kg twice daily 

Possible side effects

Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you:

Develop urticaria, rash, tightness of the chest, wheezing, hypotension

How to store Cefdinir

• Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed.
