Product Description

  • Ocugesic, 0.1% Eye Drops, Anti-Inflammatory - 5 Ml

Mechanism Of Action Of Diclofenac Sodium 0.1 % Eye Drops

  • Diclofenac belongs to a class of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

 

Therapeutic Indications Of Ocugesic Eye Drops

  • This medication is used to treat swelling (inflammation) of the eye after cataract surgery. It is also used after another type of eye surgery (corneal refractive surgery) to temporarily relieve pain and sensitivity of the eye to light.

 

Method Of Administration Of Ocugesic Eye Drops

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
  • Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place 1 drop into the pouch. Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

 

Undesirable Side Effects Of Ocugesic Eye Drops

  • Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
  • Stinging/burning of the eyes for 1 to 2 minutes and temporary blurred vision may occur when you apply this medication. Watery eyes may also occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
  • A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.

 

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Ocugesic Eye Drops

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

 

Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Ocugesic Eye Drops

  • Before using diclofenac, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to aspirin or other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, celecoxib); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients (such as polyoxyethylated castor oil found in some brands), which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
  • Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: aspirin-sensitive asthma (a history of worsening breathing with runny/stuffy nose after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs), other types of asthma, growths in the nose (nasal polyps), bleeding or clotting problems, other eye problems (such as cornea problems, dry eye syndrome, past eye surgeries), diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis.

 

Storage Conditions Of Ocugesic Eye Drops

  • Store below 25°c
  • Don’t refrigerate
  • After opening the drops are safe for the eye for a period of 28 days. After this, using the drops can cause serious damage to the eye as bacteria may have been introduced.
  • Keep this product out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
  • Do not use this product after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label.
  • The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
